Takes two wings to fly

It was almost meantime. The sun light shined over the Heartland ranch. Inside the house, Jack enjoyed a cup of dark hot coffee while Lou lost her patience in trying to make her one-year-old daughter eat some vegetables.

“Come on honey!” She swore as she tried to make her inherent the food.

Jessica had adorable chubby cheeks, delicate brown hair and light green eyes as her parents. She was wearing a white pastel dress with small violet flowers. The little girl laughed softly to her mother trying to make her laugh too.

Jack looked at her great-grand daughter happily with prideful eyes. He started thinking about how similar Lou and Jessica were. They had the same facial features perfectly matched with Peter´s nose and eyes.

The girl glanced at her grandpa dedicating him a sweet smile.

Breaking the moment, Peter arrived to the house. He left his jacket in the rack, and walked to the kitchen to meet them. “Jack” He greeted.

He sat in the table and asked “How´s my baby girl?”

“She isn´t behaving that well” Lou warned.

“But, she is too innocent as to do something bad!” Peter kissed his daughter´s cheek.

“Maybe you –dad- should be the one to give her lunch, then you´d see how difficult it is” Lou decided pointing to Peter.

“Sure, I´ll do it” He smiled at her wife.

“Thanks. I´m going to take a shower” She indicated. Lou walked to her room.

Jack laughed at the scene; he had been through those problems more than one time.

Peter, Lou, Jack, Amy and Jessica were sitting in the table. They were eating spaghetti made by Lou, with a special sauce she had prepared from a recipe she had brought from Dubai. It made her remember a lot of her life there, but also the good decision she had made of staying in Heartland with her family.

“Amy, wasn´t Ty coming for lunch?” Lou questioned her sister.

“He was, but he told me he had to help Scott in giving some medicine to some horses after university” Amy answered. “He should be here about three o´clock” She added.

“Oh”

“So, then, do you think you could do us a favor?” Peter asked.

“What kind of favor?” Amy wondered.

“Well, a friend of mine has invited us to visit his place two hours from here” “We´ll be leaving at five and we´ll be returning late, so we thought that maybe you and Ty could take care of Jess” He informed.

“Yes, I can help you guys” “I still have to ask Ty though” Amy thought.

“I´m sure you three will have a great time together” Jack laughed while he imagined Ty and Amy taking care of a one-year- old girl by themselves.

“Of course we will” She smiled. Now that they had returned back together, Amy felt happier than ever. Although she didn´t want to show it, unconsciously she did. Every time she thought about them, a smile appeared in her face. “I can´t help it” She thought to herself. “This is amazing.” “He is amazing” She corrected.

Ty´s cell phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see who was calling him, and saw Amy´s smile in the picture. He asked Scott for a minute, and while he walked away from round fence full of cows Ty answered his call.

“Amy” He smiled waiting to hear to her delicate voice.

“Hi” “Can I steal you a few seconds?” Amy wondered. She sat on her bed as she rested her head in the pillow.

“Yeah, I have some time. What is it?” Ty replied.

“Lou and Peter asked me if we could take care of Jessica while they´re out. Have you got any better plans?” She joked.

“It feels like a good offer” Ty smiled.

“It will be her first time alone with her aunt and uncle” She laughed waiting for Ty´s reaction. “How does it sound that?” Amy tried to receive an answer for Ty.

“Sounds strange, it´s weird to be called an uncle” He repeated his girlfriend´s expression.

“Yes, I know” Amy agreed.

Ty heard Scott´s voice calling him, was time to hung up the phone. “I´ve got to get back now, other ways Scott will kill me. I´ll see you later.” He said and added “Love you”

“Love you too” Amy replied. She put back her cell phone inside her pocket and opened her closet to change clothes. She picked up some jeans and a usual short sleeved cowgirl t-shirt.

Chapter 2

Lou was in her room with Amy deciding on what to wear. She wasn´t sure about wearing formal outfit or casual; she had never seen Peter´s friends before. One of the things Lou always wanted was to give a first good impression, not only at business but also in life. Her bedroom was full of dresses, shirts and jeans, like if it was some sort of end-of-season sales. 

Amy opened Lou´s wardrobe one more time. Behind some colorful dresses, she found a short flowered dress with suspenders. It looked western and light, anyone would say that it looked like if it was Amy’s. The young cowgirl took it out and showed it to Lou.

“Where did that come from?” Lou asked while she thought.

“From your closet” Amy replied with an obvious look in her eyes. “Why don´t you use this one?” She looked again at the dress.

“That one is perfect!” Her sister almost screamed. “Thanks Amy!” She grabbed it from Amy´s hand and hugged her. “Please tell Peter I´ll be ready in a minute.” Lou sounded enthusiastic.

Ten minutes later, Peter and Lou were leaving from Heartland. Peter put his daughter in Amy´s arms. 

“Please give us a call if you need any help” He informed raising an eyebrow.

“Don´t worry, I´m sure she´ll behave well” Ty said looking at Jessica.

“Have a great time!” Amy added.

“We will” The couple said at the same time. “You too, have a great time!” Lou blinked. “And remember, if you have any problems..” She was interrupted by her young sister.

“..yes, yes we understood” Amy repeated. “Now go!”

“Ok” “Bye sweetie!” Lou kissed Jess´s cheek. “See ya” She said to Amy and Ty.

Now Jessica was in Ty and Amy´s hands. There was some seconds of silence between them, until Amy asked “So, what shall we do now?” looking at Ty.

“I don´t know. What do you want to do?” He said in a sweet voice looking at Jess.

The baby giggled and then pointed at the living room with her left hand. “Ay ay!” She tried to communicate with them.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Ty looked back at his girlfriend.

“Ay!” Amy took a second to think and then talked “Play!” “Oh! I think she said that she wants to play?!”

Ty laughed “there are toys everywhere in the house”

Amy took the little girl to living room and sat next to Ty on the floor. Ty found a toy of a horse and then a Barbie with blond girl. “Look at this! It´s Amy!”He laughed showing it to Jessica with the smile of a kid.

Jessica laughed at his face and took out the horse from his hand.

Amy giggled “I´m confused. Is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult?”

“I´m saying that look like Barbie. Do you think it’s an insult?” Ty looked at her, this time without laughing, just with a decided smile.

Amy could speak but laugh. “Ok, sorry, it´s not an insult” Her cheeks turned red. She tried to look for a better answer in her head. Ty´s face got closer to hers. He gave her the same silly sight that he did her when he said - I love you - . Ty closed his eyes and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.

Suddenly, Amy pulled backwards and shouted “Jessica!”

“What?”He looked around. “Oh no! Where is she?” He panicked.

They ran opposite sides, Amy ran to the kitchen and Ty to each one of the bedrooms. “Jessica!” Ty shouted. She wasn’t in her room, neither in Amy’s or Jack’s. Ty decided to check in the bathroom, in case she was there. He quickly opened the door and turned on the lights, but the room was totally empty. “Jessica!” He screamed again.

Amy opened each one of the drawers in the kitchen. She felt her heart bouncing out of her chest as she shouted “Jess, where are you?” Amy automatically started thinking about what would happen if they didn’t find her.

She was about to start crying when she heard a familiar voice. “Oh baby” Amy opened the last drawer. Jessica was happily drinking a mud cup of coffee. Amy took her out and hugged her before taking the cup from the girl´s hands. “Ty!” Amy called.

Ty ran into the kitchen as he heard Amy´s voice. “Thank god” He felt more relieved this time. “Is that Jack´s cup?”

“Yes”Amy said and then realized “She has never drank coffee! It´s really unhealthy for young ages, it has caffeine!”

“Yes” Ty tried to follow her.

“Ty! She´s never gonna fall asleep!” She yelled.

Chapter 3

Ty and Amy were seating in the coach of the living room. They were accompanied by Jessica, who was in her 19-year-old aunt´s arms. Amy started to sing the little girl a song that her mother used to sing when she was younger.

Ty surrounded the girls with his arms. His stomach filled with butterflies when his girlfriend started to sing. Amy didn’t sing that often, in fact it was the second time he heard her voice singing; he remembered the first time, which had been in Ashley and Caleb´s wedding.

The baby girl had her eyes closed. Amy stopped singing and looked at Ty while she said in a low voice “She´s asleep”.

“Let´s take her to her bedroom” Ty suggested. He followed Amy´s steps to Jessica´s room.

Amy placed the girl in her bed, and covered her with some pink blankets. She stepped back, looking at the crib with hopeful eyes. She gave another step back, checking one more time, to see if the baby was asleep.

Ty turned off the lights of the room, as he pulled Amy´s hand outside the room. They closed the door behind them, with a big smile on their tired faces. “Finally” Amy whispered.

“This should be the third or fourth time that we try to make her sleep!” Ty rubbed his eyes.

“There may be a fifth or sixth time” Amy glanced to the door of Jessica´s room.

“Let´s hope this is the last” Ty snorted. “Are you hungry?”He asked as he touched his belly.

“I am starving!” She grabbed Ty´s hand and took him to the kitchen.

“Me too” He added.

Ty handed Amy two glasses while he looked in the furniture for something to eat.

Some minutes later, they were seating in the couch of the living room once again, having dinner together. They eat salad and beef, with the plates over their legs they managed not to drop the food. Amy and Ty enjoyed this kind of simple things that built their relationship. 

“This is great” Amy said as she swallowed the food.

“Yeah” Her boyfriend agreed while he drunk some bear.

“I mean you and me” She explained happily.

Ty stared at her with hopeful eyes “It´s amazing” He corrected. “You don´t know how much I missed you Amy” Ty´s eyes lightened up.

“In fact I want you to tell me” She let a smile appear in her face.

Ty touched her check and pulled her head softly, something he hadn´t done in a while. 

Amy giggled softly and as she got closer, she kissed Ty slowly. He kissed her back, and they ended up in a sweet hug. Amy put her chin in his chest and looked into Ty´s green eyes. “Is there anything you would like to tell me?” She whispered.

“I love you” He smiled softly. Ty tried to kiss her again but she pulled back. “Come here” He laughed.

Amy started running around the house while Ty tried to catch her. “Amy!” He grabbed her waist tightly and spun her around. Lifting her up, he heard her laughter.

Suddenly, they heard a noise coming from Jessica´s bedroom. “Oh no” Amy´s happy face changed.

“Again” Ty added.

Chapter 4

Now it was three o´clock in the morning. It had been a long night for Ty and Amy. Jessica cried and cried nonstop in Amy´s arms.

“We have no idea of how to treat a baby” “How are we going to do this?” Ty shouted.

“We´ll find the way” Amy answered.

“Ok. So, What’s your plan? Tell me!” He said in a really bad mood.

“Wait a second” “There´s no need to shout like that” Amy tried to calm him.

“Be realistic Amy” “We can´t take care of her!” Ty shouted again. “You´re not going to make her stop crying by singing a damn song”

“Ok. So then, do you know a better way?”She wondered. “Don´t shout” “Jessica will get scared” Amy whispered while she rubbed his shoulder, trying not to take serious the words he had just said.

Ty removed her hand violently, feeling her disappointment with the sight she gave him. Leaving the ranch house, he ran outside, entered the barn and climbed the wooden stairs to the loft like he used to do before. He had a terrible headache, and needed to have a sleep as soon as possible. Ty´s patience had collapsed; with a fast move he took out his shirt and threw it to the floor. Lying on the bed, his eyes started closing. Ty began to think that he had left Amy alone with the baby in the worst way he could have done. Before he could stand up, his eyes closed completely and he fell asleep.

Listening to the girl crying, Amy felt like crying too. Ty had left her alone plenty of minutes ago. She felt a cold air in the room, so she decided to put some wood in the chimney. With her free hand, she managed to make a fire.

Amy sat on the sofa and realized that Jessica had stopped crying. Rocking her from left to right, the little person closed her eyes and prepared to go to bed. “That´s it” Amy smiled happier than a while ago. She lifted her up and took her to her room. After leaving her in the bed, Amy kissed her niece on the cheek and then whispered “Good night” to her little ear.

The house was quieter than ever. Ty had disappeared and hadn´t come back yet. Amy started picking up some toys from the messy living room while she began to think about Ty. His name appeared in her head, just like thousands of questions popped in her mind. “Where is he?” She thought. Amy had seen him run to the barn, so she thought he might be in the loft, Ty´s old room. The loft had been Ty´s bed room for almost four years, but some weeks ago he had made the decision of renting Caleb´s trailer, he wanted a place to call his own.

Amy thought about going to the loft to check how Ty was, but then she remembered that Jessica couldn´t stay alone in the house. She hoped she had Ty next to her, to tell her that everything was going to be fine, and that no matter what happened, he would stay by her side. “Ty” She whispered. As soon as she said that, she realized of how much she needed him.

Amy laid in the sofa, with her head over her hands, and fell asleep, lost in her thoughts.

Chapter 5

There was only an hour left for the sun to rise in the Alberta´s Rocky Mountains. Heartland was silent, the horses stood silently in their stables and the barn was dark and warmer than some hours ago.

Ty opened his eyes slowly. He looked around and noticed that the loft had changed. There was much more space than before, but it had the same comfortable environment that it used to have. The empty closet and the dusty walls originated a feeling of sadness in his chest.

Ty stretched and groaned a few times. He used the bathroom of the loft, and put on his shirt. As fast as he could, Ty left the room and climbed down the stairs.

Once he had reached the house, he opened the door slowly, just in case Jessica, Amy or both of them were sleeping. With his eyes, Ty inspected his surroundings. He visualized his girlfriend sleeping in the couch of the living room. Without taking off his eyes from her, he sat in the floor next to the couch. Ty rubbed her waist with his right hand. “Amy” He whispered to her ear.

Amy didn´t move, she was with her eyes closed, laying gently.

“Amy” “It´s me Ty” He smiled.

As he didn´t receive an answer, he got closer and kissed her cheek.

“Hi” Amy said with a sleepy voice as she pulled her head backwards to avoid Ty.

“Good Morning” Ty tried to kiss her but she pulled back again. “What´s the problem?” He laughed.

His last comment irritated Amy “What´s the problem?” She imitated him angrily. “You left me alone in the middle of the night, you disappeared and I had to take care of Jessica the whole night” Amy screamed.

“I know, I was an idiot, I was tired and exhausted of listening the baby cry all night long” He regretted “I´m sorry Amy” Ty repeated “I´m so sorry”.

Amy looked into his eyes.

“I promise I will make it up to you” He grabbed her hand.

She thought and looked at him again. “Ok” She knew that she wouldn´t have said that some hours ago. “I was so mad at you” She moved her head.

“Sorry” He didn´t know what else to say.

“It´s ok” She gave up. “So, what are you going to do to make it up to me?” She said playfully.

“You tell me” He smiled.

“I´ll think about it” She assured. Amy stood up and walked to Jessica´s room with Ty following her. Ty opened the wooden door and both entered the baby´s room tiptoeing. Jessica was still sleeping, so they decided to let her sleep at least until Peter and Lou came back. Amy managed to plug the baby call in Jessica´s room in case she woke up.

The sunlight trespassed the glass of the small rustic windows of the kitchen. Ty was making coffee, while Amy waited in the table. She lifted her head in her left hand, and grabbed the mud cup of coffee that Ty handed her.

Seating front to front in the table, Ty and Amy had breakfast. They started chatting about all the things they had to do during the day.

“I´ll be working with Scott until three, and as I have a test tomorrow, I´ll have a look at some notes and then start with the books” Ty buffed.

“A test tomorrow?” Amy asked surprised.

“Yeah, but I have plenty of time to study” Ty assured.

“Are you sure?” Amy wondered.

“Of course” He sounded sure. Ty looked at the time, it was seven o´clock. “I think I should get going” He said.

“Ok. See you later then” She smiled. “Good luck”

“Thanks” Ty left the cup of coffee, gave her a quick kiss and left Heartland.

Chapter 6

Ty was walking through the wide corridors of University, thinking about the exam he was going to have in few minutes. He went over some key definitions for his test while he entered the big white room.

The printed sheets of paper were now in his hands. Ty handed his pencil and rubber and started reading the questions, repeating them in his head a couple of times. He spun his pencil in the table. It felt like the words had mixed in his head, causing Ty a big mess and of course confusion. He went for the first question and started writing something.

The clock rang. Ty was about to finish the thirteenth question, he even had seven questions left to answer. Ty looked at the woman who was collecting the tests; she had to collect some more tests before collecting he´s, so he rushed to complete the test. “Time is up” The woman looked at him with an accusing look.

 Driving to the trailer, Ty tried to take out of his head his worries about the exam. Parked his blue old truck, grabbed his books and opened the door to his new home.

In the Heartland barn, Amy was saddling up Spartan, her beautiful dark horse. She sat in his saddle and rode him all the way to the lake, located near the cabins of the dude ranch. Spartan´s footsteps echoed in the mountains, sounding like if there was a whole herd of wild horses running near them.

Amy stopped Spartan right in front of the sky-blue-watered lake. She took a deep breath and smelled the comforting summer air of her surroundings. A smile appeared on her face. She turned around when she saw the familiar face of her boyfriend. His brown hair shinned with the light of the afternoon. Amy posed her eyes on his as she climbed down her horse, running to him. Amy laughed as she felt his strong muscled arms around her waist and his hands over her back.

Ty also giggled, wondering why she did.

Sticking her arms around Ty´s waist, Amy kissed his lips quickly. “You look so handsome” She reached her nose with he´s.

Ty laughed again “And you look so beautiful” He kissed her.

“Thanks for that” She added.

Ty rubbed her shoulder putting his arm around her back. “How was your day?” He wondered.

“Good. I´ve been working with a new horse, Franklin” She glanced at her feet.

“And how was yesterday?” Ty continued. “Remember, I didn´t see you for two days” He warned.

“You´re right” Amy agreed. “I missed you” She added.

“But I missed you more” He admitted. Ty looked at her; her hair fell perfectly next to her cheeks, and making her eyes shine. He moved his head straight to her cheek and gave her a kiss.

Amy fluttered, giving Ty a sweet look.

“Would you like to go to watch a movie?” He asked.

“Today?” Amy wondered.

“Yeah, unless you have other plans” Ty half smiled.

“No, no” She denied quickly. “Of course, It´d be fun” Amy added.

Ty decided “I´ll pick you up at Heartland in half an hour, ok?”

“Ok. See you later” She left riding Spartan back.

Chapter 7

Amy looked at herself in the mirror of her bedroom. She grabbed the hair brush and started brushing the blond waves of hair that fell over her shoulders. Getting a closer sight to the mirror, Amy gave the final touch to her makeup, making her look perfect for a date with Ty.

The two words “date” and “Ty” filled her mind for the following minutes. Amy automatically realized that the two words made a perfect match, such as “Amy” and “Ty”, while she got lost in her thoughts.

Finally, Amy reached the kitchen where she would wait for Ty. She found out that the house was almost full. Lou, Peter, Jack, Mallory, Tim and even Lisa were there about to have dinner. Amy took a brief look from the corridor before walking in. She didn´t want to capture any attention from the family, especially when all her makeup and outfit was to impress Ty. Amy checked her clothes once more to see if these were the right ones for a date. She was wearing a short strapless dark-red dress, black leather jacket and light-colored ballerina shoes. “Not too formal, but not that simple” Amy thought. Taking a deep long breath, she decided it was better to face her family and wait for her boyfriend outside.

“She´s going out with Ty” Lou informed the family making a special accent when she said his name.

Amy shaped a small smile in her lips.                 

“Amy, you look so grown up!” Lisa added staring at her.

“She is” Jack assured while he helped Lou take the plates to the dining table.

“You look beautiful honey” Tim kissed her forehead receiving a short hug from Amy.

“Thanks dad” She said.

“Let´s see if Ty has something better to say than -You look great” Mallory joked imitating Ty.

“Mallory” Amy warned.

Ty closed the door of his truck and walked to the ranch house while he straightened his old black jacket. He opened the main door of the house and came in. “Hi everyone” Ty added.

“Ty, how are you doing?” He hit his back gently.

“Great, good” Ty smiled. He saw Amy walking to him, and he felt his heart dropped with every step she took.

“Are you ready?” Amy smiled at him.

“Y..yes” Ty stuttered. “Yes” He repeated clearing his voice.

“See you later Jack” He said as he was the only one in the room now.

“See you later” “Have fun” Jack kissed softly Amy´s cheek.

They left the house hand in hand.

Ty stopped the car in the parking lot in front of the cinema. He went to Amy´s side and helped her get out of the car. As soon as they reached the entrance of the cinema, Ty put his left arm around   Amy´s waist.

She put her hand over he´s, and kissed his cheek while making the line to buy the tickets.

Smiling Ty asked “What would you like to watch?” looking at the posters of the old cinema. “Romance, Horror, Comedy?” He read the film´s generes.

“You choose” Amy said wanting to know what kind of films Ty would like to watch.

“Ok..” Ty thought. “What about a horror film?”

Amy giggled at Ty´s choice. “A horror film?” “Are you sure?” She doubted.

“Come on! It will be fun” Ty tried to persuade her.

“I don´t know” She put a scared face.

“I´ll be right next to you” He whispered to her ear.

“If it´s too scary..” Amy couldn´t finish her sentence.

“I´ll protect you from anything” Ty added the final touch.

“Ok, you have convinced me” Amy felt Ty´s kiss on her lips.

Chapter 8

The young couple walked through the old structure of the cinema. They chose a pair of seats situated in one of the middle rows of the room to have the best view at the big screen. Before the commercials started, Ty and Amy had a brief chat.

“Here we are” Amy sat nervously. She left her arm over the armrest and turned her face to see Ty.

Her boyfriend pulled her next to him, eliminating the space between them. Ty looked at Amy with his light green eyes “Amy is just a movie!” He laughed at her uncomfortable face. “And if you don´t like it, we can use the exit door” Ty added.

“No need” Amy bit her inferior lip “In fact I´m kind of enthusiastic about watching a horror movie”

Ty had a confused look in his face. “You are?”

She was about to answer but suddenly, all the lights of the room went off. Amy couldn´t see neither hear a single noise, the only thing she could feel was her boyfriends arm positioned around her. She squeezed his arm and led her head in Ty´s shoulder as the screen went on.

Thirty minutes had passed since the movie started. Ty sat comfortably in his seat, turning left from time to time to whisper something to Amy. There was a part of the film in which he got really hooked -as everyone else in the movie theater- it was one of those suspense moments in which the viewers get totally shocked. It was all silent. The main character of the film heard a noise coming from the closet and when and he opens to see, the killer comes out scaring everyone, even Ty who almost jumped of his seat. He realized he wasn´t the only one, when he saw Amy jump over him, precisely to his lap.

“Wow!” Ty stuttered surprised.

Amy hided her head and arms in his chest “I´m gonna have nightmares for the next months” she whispered. “I´m thrilled” Amy curled over his lap like a little kid looking for protection.

Ty rubbed her back before he started laughing silently not to be heard by the other people watching the movie.

She pinched his belly and said “Shh!”

“Ouch!” Ty reacted.

The film went on, but Amy couldn´t move from Ty´s lap. She waited until the lights of the cinema were on again to stand up.

Ty half smiled. “It was a great choice” He looked at Amy´s light eyes.

“Oh really?” Amy stood up “It was for you” she opened her eyes bigger.

“Sorry” Ty said with a questioned look.

Amy turned around, lifting her back over the dark wall of the cinema facing him. She put her arms around his neck “Well…I have to admit it was kind of romantic” she said with a sweet voice getting closer to Ty.

“There you go” He added.

“Thanks Ty” Amy said looking into his green eyes.

“Thanks for what?” He whispered.

“Everything” She smiled waiting for his reaction. “You´re amazing, really”

Ty thought for a second “Then if I´m amazing you are...” he was cut by Amy.

“Ty I have never met anyone like you” Amy continued.

He giggled before saying “Will I be that amazing after obliging you to watch that movie?”

“hmm...Yes” Amy said. “But remember that you still owe me something” She remembered “since the night we stayed to take care of Jessica” “Remember?”

“Yes, I told you I would make it up to you” Ty grabbed her waist.

“Well…” She closed her eyes waiting for Ty´s kiss.

“I get it” Ty pulled her closer to kiss her lips.

Amy pulled back with a smile “It will take you plenty of those to make it up to me” She warned.

“You are so…” He laughed. “Let´s go” Ty grabbed her hand

Chapter 9

They left the old structure and walked to the parking lot where they reached Ty´s truck. He opened the door and let Amy get inside while he followed her with a smile. “I´m so in love” He thought.

Ty put the hands on the steering wheel, driving his car to the highway. Amy pulled next to him, giving him a mischievous smile.

He glanced at her while he said “Hey! You don´t want to make me crush, do ya?”

She giggled sofly and added a “No” misteriously. Amy rested her hand over his shoulder and kissed his cheek.

“Amy!” He warned taking a quick look at her. Ty saw something special in her face. She looked happy and more beautiful that normally; he felt a particular pain in his throat when he thought that he had two leave her in some minutes. Ty wished he could stay with her forever; see her every minute of the day.

Amy’s eyes were stuck in Ty, his face had changed abruptly. Anyone would say that he looked sad or disappointed. Amy touched his cheek and ran her thumb to his brown dark hair. “What´s wrong Ty?” She wondered.

Ty tried to gain his composure while he looked for an answer. “Nothing” he stuttered.

“Ty” Amy gave him a warning look. “What is it?”

He drove to the entrance to Heartland, his old home. As there wasn’t too much time before she left the car, he decided to tell her what he felt. “I´m gonna miss you” Ty sorrunded her waist with his arm as soon as they parked outside the ranch house.

Amy saw a special light in Ty´s eyes as he whispered the words. “I´m gonna miss you too” She got closer to him.

Ty tightened his arm and pulled her close.

She moved her head a few centimeters forward and kissed his lips softly. He kissed her back, rubbing her long blond hair with his hand. Something inside told him no to let her go, to keep her next to him forever.

Finally, Amy pulled back with a big smile in her face. She hugged his neck and kissed him once more. “Good night” She whispered to his ear.

“Good night” Ty replied. He opened the door of the car to let her get out.

“Call me when you get home” Amy added before leaving the car.

“I will” He assured. “See you tomorrow”

“Tomorrow?” She doubted.

“I´ll pick you up before lunch” Ty informed. “I have something special for you”

Amy looked at Ty “Ok. What is it?”

“It is a surprise I can´t tell you” He denied.

“So you´re gonna leave me thinking about it until tomorrow?” Amy crossed her arms.

“Oh yeah” Ty kissed her cheek passionately.

Amy giggled as she realized that her cheeks had turned reddish.

“See ya” He turned on his car and drove out of Heartland.

She waved from the front porch of the house still speechless. Few seconds later, Amy opened the front door and walked inside tiptoeing. “Anyone here?” She looked around. As no one answered, she headed to her room; still lost in her thoughts thinking about Ty.

Chapter 10

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey guys, this is not the long story, I'm working on it, this is just the chapter before the long story. Enjoy and don't forget to leave a comment!

His hands felt the white slim sheets of paper, his eyes ran through the page until they reached the big letter written in red. Ty glumped and took a deep breath. “Oh no” He whispered nervously. His fingers turned the sheets of paper, as he noticed a big pain in his throat. Once again Ty visualized the mark. He had failed the test.

Walking back to the parking lot of the campus, Ty tried to gain his composure. He hadn´t failed any test since he had started school, something that got Amy really proud of him. He looked forward and saw his blue truck parked a few meters away. Ty sat in the front seat, left his bag in the back seat and drove away from there the fastest he could.

Amy Fleming walked to the house with a smile from ear to ear. She passed next to Lou and Jessica, and grabbed a chocolate muffin from the table of the kitchen.

“Look at you!” Lou glanced at Amy.

“What is the matter with me?” Amy made a gesture.

“Well, you look happy, positive, you´ve been smiling a lot lately..” Lou explained looking at her younger sister.

“Oh, I do?” Amy said exaggeratedly. “For what do you think it is?”

Lou thought “Let me see..” and examined her face. She heard Jessica´s sweet and low laughter and smiled at her. “Oh I think I know” Lou winked. “It is because of Ty, isn´t it?”

Amy giggled and whispered softly “You got that right”

“So, what did Ty do?” Lou wondered as she grabbed Jessica tighter.

“He’s taking me on a date” Amy said mysteriously. “And it´s a surprise” Her voice got a special tone. There were still two hours left for the date, but Amy couldn´t wait another second.

“Things are really working between you two” Lou guessed facing her.

“Oh yes” “Even better that we plan it” Amy remembered Ty as she said the words. She walked to her room to change her clothes. She sat over the bed while she thought what to wear for her date.

Her first option was a summer dress – typical of her-, with flat shoes, and her second one were jeans with a bottomed country t-shirt. As Amy opened the door of the wooden closet, a third option appeared; a mini jean skirt with a cute flowered t-shirt without sleeves. “Great” Amy whispered to herself, as she took out the clothes and placed them on her bed.

Ty opened the door of the truck while his girlfriend walked out. Excitement showed in her face.

“Will you tell me what is it that you planned?” Amy grabbed his arm.

They had stopped by in a beautiful green field where they could see the tall Alberta mountains covered with sun light. “Just follow me” Ty grabbed her hand.

Ty and Amy had walked to a big tree located some meters away from where they had parked the car. Amy could visualize a picnic basket lying over the tall green grass. She smiled and followed Ty.

“Surprise!” He opened the picnic basket as he waited for Amy to say something. “I know that this is” Ty looked for the word. “very simple..” added.

“You know I love simple things” She grabbed his arm.

“Kind of” He said smiling. “Each day I learn more about you”

“Yeah, me too” Amy grabbed the sandwich that Ty handed her. “I think that this plan of yours it´s really working” She continued “Since we leave in different places we have more opportunities than we did before”

Ty laughed “Now you don´t have to see my face the whole day” “Only in dates” He joked.

“Very funny!” Amy exaggerated. “Would you pass me the juice?”

“Here you are” Ty handed her a glass.  

“Thanks” “Ty, did you actually cook this pie?” Amy sounded impressed.

“I did” He faced her “Do you like it?”

“It´s delicious!” Amy took another bite. “Seriously”

“Well, whenever you want just call the Borden-pie delivery” He blinked.

“Oh, ok” She giggled. Amy kissed Ty´s cheek before he could say anything else.

Ty stared at her lovingly.

“So, how did you do in your exam?” Amy broke the brief silence between them.

“Hum” Ty scratched his neck. “Well..”

“Ty” Amy warned opening her eyes bigger. “They were going to give you the result today, right?” She rested her arm in his shoulder.

“Yes” admitted. “The thing is” He tried to say the word.

“Are you saying that you didn´t pass it?” She looked disappointed. Her face had changed from one second to the other.

“Yes, I failed the exam” There was anger in his voice “I didn´t know anything about the damn thing because I didn´t study at all”

“Ty come on” Her voice broke. “Why didn´t you…” Amy stopped there. She looked at the enchanting view in front of them.

He felt even guiltier than her did when he received the test. Amy hadn´t say say a word, which gave him a clue; she was really disappointed of him, something that Ty had always hated.

“When are you doing it again?” Amy said coldly. She hoped that he had another opportunity.

“They say that I could do it in a month” “And I can´t fail it again” Ty assured.

“You won’t” She turned back to him. There was sadness in his face and in his voice. She wrapped her arms around his waist, she left her head over his shoulder and whispered “I trust in you, and I know you will become a vet someday.”

“Thanks Amy” he kissed her for some seconds.

Once they had finished their meal, they drove back to Heartland.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: So here's part 1 of the long story. As I didn't finish it yet, I decided to post a part of what I have, so enjoy ;) This time I will be updating soon, I have to post the 2nd part!

Jack, Amy and Lou were in the kitchen discussing about a new horse arriving at Heartland the following day. Lou gave Amy some details about the horse´s owners, while Amy grabbed some juice from the fridge. Jack stood still, when he had an idea. “Hey Lou, what would you think about doing an open house here at Heartland this weekend?” He looked at his older granddaughter.

Lou looked straight at her grandpa “Grandpa?” “Everything ok?” She doubted at Jack’s words. He wasn’t that kind of person who would come up with those ideas.

“Well it´s been a long time since we do one” Jack started “Everyone enjoys it, and sure it will be a great opportunity for Heartland and for Amy as well” He blinked at Amy.

Amy smiled positively “Grandpa is right” “It´ll be fun!”

Lou thought. “It´s a great idea” she smiled. “Wow grandpa! I would have never thought” She was cut by Jack.

“Can´t I have a good idea every now and then?” He asked knowing what the girls would say.

Amy giggled looking at Lou who was laughing too.

“I´m gonna think about it” Lou assured. “Thanks grandpa” She couldn´t stop smiling.

As soon as Lou left the kitchen, Amy and Jack heard the sound of a car pulling by. They automatically glanced at the window, where they saw a dusty-red car parked in the outside. Opening the door of the car, they saw a slim figure. It was a woman in her twenties, wearing dark skinny jeans and a short sleeved shirt with a band logo in the middle. The aspect that mostly caught their attention was the color of her hair; it was light orange and short enough to reach her shoulders.

Jack reached the front porch, ready to meet the stranger. He looked over and waited as the figure walked to him.

“Hello” She smiled taking out her ray ban sun glasses.

“Hi” “Can I help you?”Jack smiled friendly.

“Yes, please” “I´ve had quite a long road trip, but I´m finally here” She made funny gestures. “I was looking for Ty Borden” Said looking around “He works here, right?”

Jack tensed his jaw “Yes, Ty” “He used to work here” he thought about every word he said.

“Oh” She looked to the floor. “Sorry I forgot to introduce myself” “I´m Angie” She offered a hand shake.

“Jack Bartlett” He shook her hand.

“So, you know Ty?” Jack said curiously.

“Yes” “I got to know that he lived and worked here” Angie stopped and then continued “Do you know where is that he lives now?”

“Not far from here, if you want I can give him a call” Jack offered.

“If you mind” Angie felt relieved.

“No I don´t” He let her get inside the house.

Jack closed the door behind him and offered Angie a seat in the kitchen. Dialing the numbers, he heard Amy and Lou´s footsteps.

Amy crossed views with the stranger “Oh, Hey”.

“Hi, I´m Angie” She introduced herself. “I don´t want to bug you guys, I can just wait outside if you want”

“No, it´s ok” Amy smiled “I´m Amy”

“Lou” She gave her a friendly sight.

“Nice to meet you” Angie looked at both with a friendly smile on her face.

“What brings you around?” Lou wondered.

 “I´m actually here because I´m looking for Ty Borden” She said hoping that they would say something about him.

Amy stood quiet, wondering what had Ty to do with her. Just when she started thinking of possibilities, Amy looked at her grandpa, who was waiting for Ty to pick up the phone. An idea popped in her mind. “Grandpa, I´ll go to his place and ask him to come” She offered.

Jack agreed, still waiting for Angie´s approbation. “That would be cool” She smiled at Amy “Thanks a lot”.

Amy borrowed Jack´s truck and drove to the trailer where Ty was leaving. Her eyes showed curiosity as she started thinking. Once she had gotten there, she parked the truck in the front porch next to Ty´s.

Ty walked out with a bottle of bear in one of his hands, and with the other he waved to his girlfriend. “Nice surprise” He half smiled.

“How are ya?” Amy said sweetly. “Hope you don´t mind I came here without calling” She reached Ty.

“You know that you are always welcome” Ty grabbed her waist and pulled her near him.

Amy giggled softly “Good” but she couldn´t say anything else because Ty gave her a lip lock leaving her totally speechless. She kissed back, surrounding him with her arms.

“You´re staying, right?” Ty hoped.

“In fact I came…” Amy was interrupted by another kiss.

“Ty” She broke apart. “Let me speak!” Amy exclaimed.

“Ok tell me” He laughed giving her space.

“There´s someone looking for you at Heartland” She told him.

“Who is it?” Ty asked confused.

“Is a she” Amy emphasized on the word. “Someone called Angie”

“Angie?” He tried to remember. “I think I don´t know anyone named Angie” “Not that I remember”

“Well that´s weird” She added “She was looking for Ty Borden”

“Weird” Ty was confused. “Anyways” He smiled “We don´t have to leave now, do we?”

“Ty, they sent me to look for you” “She´s waiting” Amy warned.

“Ok, fine” He followed her to the truck.

They arrived at Heartland, and got inside the house. Amy opened the door and then Ty entered. She was surprised to find Jack, Lou and the girl in the same position that they were when she had left. “Here he is” Amy spoke as Ty walked to the kitchen.

Ty immediately landed his eyes on the young lady. She looked extravagant but at the same time funny. He realized that there was something familiar, in her face, in her eyes, and in her smile particularly.

Jack decided to break the silence “Ty this is Angie, she came here for you”

Her name ringed like a bell in his head. Ty bit his lower lip as he tried to remember who she was. “Hey” He said without thinking.

Angie didn´t reply. She stood frozen in front of him. Her hand slowly slipped from her pocket, and offered Ty a hand shake. “A pleasure” She whispered looking into his green eyes.

Ty shook it back, and wondered about what she was going to say next.

“Do you think we could go somewhere to talk?” Angie asked nervously. She immediately realized that Lou, Amy and Jack were still in the room wondering why they looked at each other that way.

“But…who are you?” “Why?” Ty stuttered. It was really confusing.

“It´s a long story” She pulled him by his arm. “I´ll tell ya”

Ty looked around and found Amy´s eyes. “I´ll be back in a second” He tried to explain. Giving her a soft pat in the shoulder, he left the room.

“Guys, would you give us a minute?” The girl asked.

“Oh sure” Jack assured with honesty.

Ty walked behind Angie and suggested her to go sit under a tree in the middle of the countryside. She agreed and sat next to him, while she looked for the right words in her head. She played with her collecting of bracelets, waiting till Ty was ready to hear what she had to say.

The twenty-two-year-old Ty turned and faced her. Her short reddish-orange hair shined with the sunlight, giving her skin a pale color. 


Chapter 11 (1st part) Hope you like! I'll be updating by Wednesday or Thursday. And happy Birthday to Sanja! Have a good time :)

Angie looked into his eyes. She broke the ice “This must be weird for you” rubbing her neck.

“It is” Ty opened his eyes bigger. “Can you start explaining?” He said with his head down. “I think I know you, or I´ve seen you before…” He said with a confused look.

“Well maybe you remember me, I” She stopped for a second. “Do you remember Wade?” Angie asked realizing Ty’s shocked face when she said the words.

That name hit Ty like a tidal wave. He started playing with his fingers trying to lose his nervousness. “Yeah” He looked back at her knowing that something not good was about to come.

“Well, the thing is I am his daughter” “Angie” She crossed her arms, waiting for Ty´s reply once more. “We were kind of young when we met”

“Yes, I do remember you!” “I knew I had seen you before” He said it with a bit of enthusiasm. “You stayed some months with me and my mom, right?”

“Yes, I did” She was surprised of his memory. “Your mother was amazing, I remembered”

Ty changed his face. “At those times” He almost whispered.

Angie kept on explaining “After our parents married, when you were like ten years old and I was nine, we went to live with you guys a while” She made a stop and continued “Then I went to live with my mom and I stayed there for a few years until she died when I was fourteen. She had a kind of lung cancer”

“Oh, I´m sorry” Ty tried to place himself in her shoes.

“It´s been a while now” She remembered those times “After that, some neighbors offered me to stay with them, and I grew up there pretty much the rest of my life” “That family had two teenage kids, and thanks to them I discovered what I wanted to be when I grew up”.

Ty followed all her story “And what is it?”

“Wait till I get to that part” She warned smiling. “One of those guys played the drums really well, and the other played the electric guitar” “I spent most of the time with them. I became the lead singer of a great band” She smiled again.

“Really?” He smiled as well.

“Yes, we are pretty famous you know” “We have a fan club and we play almost every night in different cities” Angie said proud of herself.

“Hey, that´s awesome!” He exclaimed. “What´s the name of the band?” Ty wondered.

“We are the Killjoys” She giggled.

They kept on with the conversation, telling each other this about themselves for a while, until they retuned back to the ranch, when Ty invited her to have lunch with the family.


Chapter 11 (Part 2) Leave a comment if you want a chapter before weekend!

Angie entered the room behind Ty, waiting till he introduced her to the family. She followed him with a half smile in her face. She stood next to Ty and looked at him.

In the kitchen, Lou Jack and Amy also looked at Ty with questioned looks. Anyone would realize the curiosity in their sights. Lou took a bunch of plates, to take them to the dinner table.

Ty lifted his back in the kitchen table and said “Angie is Wade´s daughter, was my stepsister” looking into each one´s eyes, especially to Amy´s.

“I didn´t know you had a stepsister” Lou raised an eyebrow.

“Neither I” Amy crossed her arms.

“She came to live with me and my mom for a while, but I was young and I don´t remember much about it now” Ty explained.

Jack glanced at Ty “Well she can stay for lunch so we can know more about her” said and half smiled.

Ty thought for a second, looked at Angie and then at Amy. Amy gave him a trustful glance, and Angie rubbed her neck. She looked back at him and said “Uh I don´t know..”. She didn´t want to intrude in their house.

“You should” Lou smiled at her. She trusted her somehow.

“No problem” Amy finally agreed in a whisper.

“Ok” Angie said shyly.

They sat in the dinner table with Mallory that had just entered to the house. The family asked her various questions, and she replied with a smile.

“Do you go to college?” Mallory wondered.

“Hum, no, I studied music for a while, and now I have a rock band, so that’s pretty much what I do” She explained to the teenager.

“Oh cool!” Mallory questioned “Do you play any instrument?”

“I know how to play electric and classic guitar, a little bit of bass and drums, but I´m the lead singer in my band” She added.

“Wow!” Lou exclaimed.

“We have just been to a three month tour around the USA” She informed. “We have lots of fun meeting fans and playing in different places”

“How many are you in the band?” Mallory asked really getting into the topic.

“We are four, three more guys and me” She replied.

“And how does it feel to be the only girl?” Lou thought and asked.

“Well, it´s not such a big deal, they are like brothers to me, we have a lot in common and we spent a lot of time together.” “I guess I got used to it” Angie said as she finished eating.

The sun was ready to hide behind the tall Rocky Mountains although there was still an hour left for the sunset. Amy held a thin rope in her right hand, pulling Cooper, Mallory´s horse to the barn. The brunet male walked behind her, following each one of her steps to the barn. In the moment when she was about to take him to his stall, Mallory appeared next to the barn door.

“Amy!” She called.

Amy turned around to face Mallory.

“I´ll do it!” She walked to Cooper with a smile in her face. “I´ve been missing him so much” Mallory rubbed the horse´s neck.

“Ok, remember to the lock the barn doors when you leave” Amy warned.

Mallory nodded and Amy started walking to the house. With her hands on her pockets, she saw Ty coming to her.

“Ty!” She exclaimed. “I thought you had left already”

“No, not yet” He sounded tired. “I was taking Angie´s to her cabin” Ty informed.

“Oh” “She´ll be staying after all” Amy realized. She remembered that Lou had invited her to stay at the dude ranch when the girl said she had been looking for somewhere to stay around Hudson. The twenty year old Angie had really bonded with the rest of the family, including Mallory, they were happy to have her around. She had an outgoing personality, and a particular way of expressing herself making other people like her.

“Is it ok?” Ty wondered.

“Her staying here?” “Oh sure” Amy smiled. She had also liked Angie like the rest of the family had.

“Wow” Ty opened his eyes bigger.

“What’s the problem?” Amy raised an eyebrow expectantly.

“Nothing” Ty said quickly. “I thought you would feel” He cut himself there.

“You thought I would feel…” Amy wanted Ty to continue, even though she knew what he was going to say.

“I thought you would be jealous maybe?” He rejected after saying it.

“Jealous?” She let out a giggle from her mouth. “Doesn´t make much sense”

“I guess not” Ty tried to read Amy´s expression.

“Ok, this was kind of weird” She said referring to their conversation.

Before answering, Ty put his arm over her shoulders. “Do you think we could go for a walk before the sun sets?”

“Yeah” Amy put her arm around his waist. “Were do you want to go?” She questioned with a smile in her face.

“You just follow me” He pulled her close and starting walking past the barn.

“You can´t stop surprising me, can you?” Amy kissed his jaw.

“No I can´t. Dear Amy Fleming, I´m full of surprises” He said with a particular accent that made Amy giggle.

“Oh” Amy laughed. “Will I ever get to know all of them?” She wondered.

“Hm” Ty thought for a minute. “No you won’t” He put a serious face.

“Oh, why?” Amy said like she was flirting and made a sad face.

Ty smiled sweetly and hugged her waist lifting her up. When she faced her, he kissed her lips. Amy grabbed his cheek with the left hand and kissed him back. As soon as they pulled back, Amy started tickling Ty’s tummy.

“Hey!” He almost let her fall to the grass.

“I also have many surprises too” She winked at him and whispered to his ear “Don´t forget that”

“I know that” He blushed. Ty let her down, and they continued walking.

“Amy you´ve grown up so much” Ty looked at her.

“…thanks” Amy hesitated.

“No, really” He added. “If you compare last year to now” “You´ve grown a lot” He smiled.

“I feel different” She agreed.

“You´re like an improved version of yourself” He continued.

“I´m sorry?” She stopped walking to face him. “So I was not good enough back then?” Amy was serious.

“No! I didn´t wanted to say that” Ty denied quickly. “No way!” He exclaimed.

“You are the best with words, ya know” Amy said with sarcasm.

“I´m so sorry, I didn´t mean to make you upset!” He rubbed his neck nervously.

“It´s ok” He giggled at his nervousness. “I´m not upset, I know you didn´t mean that” “I was just bugging you” She laughed “Look at your face!”

“You really scared me” He blushed.

Amy kissed his head slowly. “Don´t be” She said sweetly.

Ty let out a sigh of relief.


Chapter 13 (:

It was a calm, hot and starry night. The horses were already in the barn, each one in their stall, witnessing the charming and comforting night. There was a beautiful silence in the outdoor of the Heartland ranch. The clouds had magically disappeared, seemed to be that the sunset had made them go away, leaving a blue clear sky.

Amy Fleming looked from her room outside the window, and opened the curtain to have a better view. She stared at the twinkling decorative stars in the Alberta sky. A half smile appeared in her face as the shining stars reflected on her blue eyes. The clock next to her bed marked ten thirty. “Time to go to sleep” She said to herself. Amy sat on her bed, put on her summer pajamas, laid in the bed and pulled the light covers to her shoulders.

When she was going to turn off the lamp, she saw a picture of Ty and her when they were going to a school dance some years ago. She remembered how they never got to the dance, and they ended up dancing in the back of Ty´s truck. It brought her many good memories to sleep on. Amy kissed their picture and turned back closing her eyes.

Suddenly, the door of Amy´s door opened. She opened her eyes wondering who was entering to her room. A soft light appeared. “Amy?” She heard a familiar voice inside her room.

“Lou” Amy said with a sleepy voice without wanting to wake up.

“Amy, I have to talk you about something” She said in a whisper, sitting in her bed.

“Can´t we talk about out it tomorrow? I’m tired.” She rubbed her eyes.

“It will take you just a second” She tried to convince her.

“Fine. What is it?” Amy accepted crossing her arms.

“Just a question, is it ok with you if we let Angie stay here for some days?” Lou wondered.

“Yeah, of course” She added “Why does everybody ask me that?” She tailed “I mean…why wouldn´t I be ok with it?”

“I was just asking” Lou understood what her sister had said. “That´s all” “Good night Amy”

“Good night” Amy went to sleep again while Lou left the room tiptoeing.

Angie opened her eyes, waking up in a comfortable wooden cabin. A stripe of sunlight entered from the window, making her eyes narrow. She sat down and picked up her cell phone to see a message. The phone showed the name of the contact “Mike”. A worried look appeared in her face. Angie left the cell phone in the table next to the bed and grabbed some comfortable clothes; a grey t-shirt with the logo of ‘Jane’s Addiction’ in red letters and dusty jeans. She put on a black hoodie, shoes and left the room trying to make her way to the ranch house.

Angie walked for some minutes, trying to remember if she was going in the right direction. She kept on walking some more meters, until she heard a noise. She stopped near a tree, trying to see from where the noise came from.


Chapter 14

Angie visualized a big black spot next to a tree some meters away. She slowly walked step by step to the place, trying not to be seen or heard. Lifting her left arm in the tree, her eyes found a dark black mustang lying over the autumn leaves. The mare was moving her legs in an attempt to stand up, but her body didn’t allow her. The horse had two deep wide cuts, the one in her face started in her white forehead, continued behind her ear and part of her black neck, while the other surrounded part of one of her back legs. There’s was pain in her light brown eyes.

Angie’s heart dropped. She had never seen an animal hurt like that. Her hands started shaking as her conscious told her to help that mare. She stayed there standing next to the horse for a minute. The mare looked into her eyes and made eye contact with her. Angie knelt next to her, putting a hand over the horse’s head. Her soft and warm touch encouraged the animal to keep trying.

As fast as her legs could move, Angie ran to the ranch. She skipped some trees, bushes and branches that appeared in her way, but she finally made it to the house. She stopped, looked around and took some air in. Then she climbed the stairs of the front porch, and opened the wooden door. “Jack? Lou? Amy?” She called one by one as she entered the house.

“Good Morning” Jack appeared in the kitchen with a welcoming smile and a mug cup in his hand. When he found her alarmed face he made a question look, giving her a seat in one of the chairs next to the kitchen table.

“Morning” Angie said. Anyone would have realized that she had been running a long distance. She sat down, and looked at Jack again.

“Is everything Ok?” Jack prepared her a cup of coffee.

“I found a horse lying on the ground, it was a black mare” She explained “She had too deep cuts; I can tell she was in a lot of pain”. Angie heard some footsteps and turned around. Amy was standing behind her, and seemed to be interested in what she was talking about. She walked to where Angie was and wondered “Where have you found her?”

“I found her in the way to my cabin. I can show you where” She explained standing up from her chair.

“Sure” Amy followed her outside with a determined look. Before leaving, she shouted “Grandpa, can you call Scott?”

“That´s what I am doing” Jack dialed the numbers quickly, and the next thing he heard was Scott’s voice.


Chapter 15


So here's a new chapter...I listened to a song a couple of times before writing this, so it was part of my inspiration. If you want you can listen to it while you read this chapter, it's Wonderwall by Oasis. Enjoy and tell me if you liked ;) thanks for your comments so far :)

Angie walked into the barn. It was six o´clock, a beautiful afternoon in the ranch. The barn was quite dark, and almost all horses were in their wooden stalls. Some of them had been already brushed, but others were still waiting.

She saw a shape as soon as she got in, and automatically recognized who it was. “Hi Amy” Angie stood next to her, with her arms resting in the door of the stall.

“Angie” Amy whispered and smiled.

“I see she´s quite better now” Angie looked at the mare.

“Yeah she is” Amy continued “You can come if you want”

“Are you sure?” She doubted. As soon as she saw Amy’s encouraging smile, she opened the stall door and sat next to her and next to the mare too.

“I wonder… what are you going to do with the mare once she can walk and run again?” Angie asked.

“These kind of horses are mustangs, nobody owns them, they are wild horses and we usually set them free once they recover” Amy explained, looking at Angie.

“Oh I see” Her voice gained a bit of sadness. “But this one´s really pretty” She pointed out.

“She is” Amy smiled back. “Still, we can´t keep her”

Angie gave a sigh. She gently stroke the mare´s mane while she whispered what she had heard Amy saying a while ago “You´re a good girl”. “Yes, you are” She repeated in a sweet voice.

Amy automatically realized the connection between them as she saw the picture in front of her eyes. A half smile appeared in her face. She loved seeing this kind of interaction between a person and a horse, because she knew that once they trusted each other, they could become inseparable friends. Like Jack once told her, Boys come and go, but horses are forever. She always kept that in mind. Amy slowly left the room, and headed to the house.

Angie looked at her watch, it was six thirty. She thought she would be late for dinner if she stayed more time there. She stood up, said goodbye to the mare and headed to her cabin once again.

When she was few meters away from the door, her cell phone started buzzing. Angie answered her call as she made her way inside the cabin. “Hello” She said. She didn´t know who it was because she didn´t have the number registered in her phone.

“Hi” Said a male voice.

“Mike?” She stuttered.

“Yeah it´s me, can you please listen to me before you hung up the phone?” He spoke fast “Please Angie!”

“Haven´t you said enough already?” “Go on with your life, and leave me alone” She tried not to scream or burst in tears.

“But…” “You know what? I guess you’re right” His voice became a low whisper. “I shouldn´t have called, cause I know that between us, things won´t work as it used to” “Good bye Angie” He still waited for her reply.

“Mike…” Angie didn´t know how to continue. The words just escaped from her mouth “Bye Mike”

She threw her phone to the floor, and laid on her bed, trying not to feel that emptiness once again. A small tear ran across her cheek. Angie quickly cleaned her face; she had promised herself not to do such a big deal out of this, because she already knew it would end some way or another. It was too good to be true.

She changed her Jane´s Addiction t-shirt, and changed it for a long sleeve Jimmy Eat World t-shirt. She ran back to the ranch, trying to erase the memories from her mind.

Angie had dinner with Lou, Peter, Amy and Jack. They asked her some things about her, like about her orange hair for example. They were quite curious about how did she come with the idea of getting that color. She laughed a bit, and explained “The sons of the neighbors who adopted me when I was a kid, who were like best friends to me, played a trick on me” “In fact we made a kind of a bet, and of course I lost” She laughed “So then I had to dye my hair”

“I can´t believe it” Amy giggled.

“That´s evil” Lou laughed.

“It was” “But they gave me a change of style, and i love it” Angie looked at her hair. “I´m really thankful” She smiled.

They kept on with their conversation, until it was late, and Angie had to go to sleep. She said good night to everyone and left.

Hi guys! it´s been ages, i know. The good thing is that i got back to writing. School is driving me crazy, i have exams almost everyday, and i am so stressed with everything. I had to take a break from all my hobbies, and yes it completely sucked. But it´s finally here, a new chapter. I am really sorry! 

Chapter 16

Lou was in the living room, arranging everything for the open house, which was going to take place that same weekend in the one and only Heartland ranch. She made some phone calls, and took down some notes. 


Everything was almost ready, but she had the constant feeling that she needed to add something else to the open house, to make it in some way more interesting, something to make it able in some way, to attract more public. Lou slightly walked to the kitchen and looked though the window. An idea flashed through her mind.

Ty and Amy were sitting next to the lake, contemplating it´s sooth and calm waters. Amy laid her head over Ty´s strong chest while he rested his hand over her back. Amy opened her eyes and looked at Ty´s emerald green eyes. Ty grinned as she said the words “I love this” in a whisper. 


He put his hand over her soft blond hair and added “And I love you”.


Amy almost died with his last comment. He said that all the time, but every time was different. Ty made her feel some way she had never felt before. Their love was unique, and they both knew it. “I love you too” She kissed his cold nose. Ty softly smiled and moved his head until he reached her lips. Amy kissed him back, without giving him a chance to break the kiss. She put her hand over his chest, where she had laid her head some minutes ago. Ty put his left hand over her slim waist, and left his other hand over her lower back. Amy deepened the kiss, as she felt his heart beat faster. She quickly broke the kiss. Ty stared at her for some seconds and unconsciously said “Amy…” with a huge grin in his face. “That was…” He left some words unspoken.


“I know” She whispered and smiled mischievously. She moved her arms around him in a hug, and Ty imitated her.


“It´s getting quite cold” She rubbed his back. 


“hm” he muttered. “I´ll keep you warm” Ty´s eyes light up.


Amy let out a sweet giggle “You´re acting a little bit too cheesy today”.


“Am I being a little bit too cheesy?” He laughed. “Why shouldn´t I?”


Amy kissed his cheek softly. “Come on, we gotta get going” She grabbed his hand.


They stood up and walked to Ty´s old blue truck, parked in a side of the road. Ty opened Amy´s door and she got inside. Few minutes later, they were on their way back to the Heartland ranch, a few kilometers away from the place they had been to. “Ty” Amy turned her head to face her boyfriend.


Ty focused some attention on her while he kept his eyes in the road. “Why didn´t you ever tell me you had a stepsister?” She said in a low voice.


“She is not my step sister” Ty stated “She is Wade´s daughter but he´s not longer married to my mother, so...”


Amy half smiled and turned her head back.


Chapter 17 

It was time for lunch. Everyone sat in the table, patiently waiting for Lou to bring the food. Amy realized her sister had something to say as she sat joined the rest with the conversation. She was looking at Angie, just before she called her name.

“What is it?” The girl with the orange hair asked.

“Well, you know we will be making an open house this weekend…” Lou started. The rest of the family stopped talking to listen.

“Right” Angie waited to hear the rest.

“I was hoping you could take part in it” She continued “Do you think you could bring the rest of the band here and perform in the open house?” Lou said as she took a slice of meat and put it in her plate.

“Oh” Angie hesitated “That would be pretty fun” she smiled.

“I mean, we will provide you with anything you need” Lou explained.

“Oh don´t worry about that” Angie assured “We can bring our team here; Stage, Instruments, we’ve got it all covered.” She said enthusiastically.

“Oh great”

Jack added “Are you sure you want to do this?” “We don´t want to pressure you…”

Jack was stopped by Angie “Oh yes I do! Thank you so much!” She took out her cell phone from her pocket and dialed the numbers “I gotta call the guys.” “Excuse me” She stood up with a huge smile in her pale face.

Amy, Ty, Lou and Jack watched her walk away. “This is going to be amazing” Lou was proud of her original idea.

“Lou” Amy looked at her sister. “Do you know what kind of music do they play?”

“Hm no…” Lou realized she had forgotten about that tiny detail. “But that´s not such a big deal” “They should be good” She doubted.

“Ok” Amy didn´t want to ruin Lou´s mood.

“Do you think they are not good?” Lou wondered.

“No, I´m not saying that Lou” “I just asked” She tried not to worry her sister.

Amy and Ty were having dinner at Maggie’s. Their table was located on the left side, next to the window. As they chatted about a new horse that had arrived to heartland that same morning, Amy’s best friend, Soraya, Maggie’s waitress, walked to their table with her hands full of plates. She left their food on the table, and then asked Amy how everything was going at Heartland.

“Pretty good” She replied. “Lou planned an open house for this weekend”

“Oh yeah” Soraya pointed at the brochure which hanged in the wall. “News travel fast around here” She smiled.

“That´s because of Lou´s obsessive planning” Amy commented and Ty nodded. “So, are you coming then?” Amy questioned.

“I have some things to do but, I think I´ll make it” Soraya smiled.

“Oh great!” Amy was about to say something else but Soraya interrupted.

“Hum, Amy can we talk?” She looked at Ty.

“Yeah, sure”

“I mean, in private?” Soraya wondered.

“Oh okay” Amy stood up and looked at Ty “I´ll be back in a second” she whispered to him.

“Sure” He continued with his meal.

As they were in the kitchen, Soraya started talking “Amy do you remember the guy I was dating in England?”

“Do you mean the guy you never wanted to talk me about?” Amy waited a reaction from her friend.

“Yes…well, he´s coming here to Hudson in a few days!” Soraya said excitedly.

“Really? That´s great!” Amy could feel Soraya’s anxiousness “I will get to know him then. When is he coming?”

“On Friday” “I really want you to” She smiled. “And he will be meting my mother too who has been hoping to see him for ages, and of course the rest of the people around here will meet him too” She added.

“That is in only two days!” Amy said surprised. “We need to hang out more often, as we did in the old days” She regretted not having enough contact with her best friend.

“We need to” They hugged.

Amy returned to the table where Ty was waiting for her. He had a mysterious smile. “You´re not going to tell me about that so-important best friend talk, are you?” He wondered.

“It´s a girl thing” Amy joked, playing with him.

“Okay then” Ty smiled again. “If you don´t want to tell me…”

“Anyways if I tell you or not, you´ll eventually get to know about it” Amy stood up. “I will tell you in our way back, come on” They walked to the door.
